"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you." (John 15:16)

Helping people in Ukraine

St. Nicolaus and Christmas Collection For Poor in Ukraine

Let's bring hope to people in need!

Dear friends,

Our traditional Saint Nicholas - Christmas collection for Ukraine has a special character this year. As a result of the ongoing war, there are more people in Ukraine who need hope and a helping hand. Those who remain in their country, mostly elderly, lonely, disabled, or sick people, are more and more faced with the reality that they do not have the means to provide basic life needs, including medicines.

Unfortunately, we cannot help everyone. However, with your continued support we would like to consolidate and strengthen the aide systems we have established over the last few years (even before the war). This support through the administration by our long-term collaborators who reside in Ukraine literally "transform" our financial contributions with their whole hearts and lives into concrete help and concrete hope - they buy and bring basic food, drugstore items and necessary medicines to poor people, or contribute to lonely or old people to pay for utilities when they are in danger of being completely cut off from energies.

"Through your gift, God shows me his presence, that he is close. His hands are your hands! Thanks to each of you." (Lonely elderly lady)

The goal of this collection is to create an aid package for the whole year so that we have a specific amount for each month that we can send to Ukraine. Such a regular amount will in a way be a certain "certainty" in the long term and will help our collaborators to more systematically secure and distribute aid directly on the spot.

What exactly will our contributions be used for?

Due to the global pandemic situation, we too had to cancel mission trips to Ukraine. However, we are in constant contact with our friends there and, through them, we are trying to bring help to all those in need.

The current situation in Ukraine is quite difficult. Many people have lost their jobs and thus their livelihoods because of the pandemic. The social system there, unfortunately, does not function as it does in other countries, so people literally have but a few pennies per month to live on. The number of poor people keeps growing. Priests, too, who depend on the charity of the faithful (for example, through Holy Mass donations), are now in a difficult situation.

With your help, we have managed to create several "islands of aid" in various places in Ukraine (near the cities of Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Buchach, Ternopil, Lutsk, Chernivtsi, Kharkiv, and others). We regularly allocate your financial gifts and contributions and send them to our friends, priests, and bishops, who then distribute them as needed to people who are poor, sick, needy or old, orphans, single mothers, large families, or destitute. Specific assistance is provided in the form of purchases and distribution of necessary food, everyday consumer goods, and medicines, or financial contributions for food, housing, health care, health treatment, or urgent household repairs (e.g. malfunctioning of water supply, electricity, flood damage or other essential services).

Many of you are asking us to celebrate Holy Masses (liturgies) in Ukraine (including Gregorian). This form of support is increasingly proving to be a great way by which to help priests and religious communities in this country and, through them, others in need. THANK YOU!

In those places in Ukraine where we have traveled together, many newborn children end up in children's homes for various reasons: they cannot be cared for by their biological parents or the extended family. For many years, the heart’s desire of one of our long-term collaborators who is a priest was to build an orphanage where every child would be welcomed as God's gift. In 2017, with God's help, he began building the House of Mercy with the Church of St. Nicholas. It is heartening to see how this work progresses, despite various difficulties, thanks to the support of benefactors. The home is literally emerging from ruins. A few months ago, the foundation stone of the Church of St. Nicholas was blessed and placed, to remain next to the orphanage as a sign that the Heavenly Father is still with the children, that He cares for them, and that He will never leave them. Every week, directly on the construction site, before the Cross and the icon of St. Nicholas, prayers are said for all the benefactors and supporters of this work, and for all children and fellow workers.

Thanks be to God for all of you who have already supported or will support this work! It is marvelous work and we believe that it can become a home and a source of hope and joy for many children! (It will still take a considerable amount of money to complete it, but we believe that God will continue to provide and this project will reach completion soon.

We will indeed be very grateful for all your support in this mission to help the people of Ukraine.

The Holy Apostle Paul says: At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need (2 Cor 8:14).

WHOM have we HELPED together with you?

Only brotherly love can cause that the one having something does not close in himself egoistically and the one who is poor does not feel humiliated in his need. (John Paul II)

... and to many others whom God himself knows and who pray for you, benefactors, with thanksgiving...

"Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." (Mt 25:40)

Thanks to your generous heart, we can contribute together to alleviating human misery that is not only spiritual and moral but also material, … which is also one of the main goals of our School of Mission.

We believe that once the pandemic ends, we will be able to resume our mission trips to Ukraine, and together with you and our friends and fellow workers we will again bring aid and organize Theology of the Body spiritual retreats, and not only for young people :).

THANK YOU for any support!

May God act powerfully in your lives, too!

„Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.Eph 6, 18

Dear friends, with deep heartache we have been observing what is going on now in country of our friends.

However, we believe that this war, too, can be stopped by prayer and fasting.

HOW can I help?

PRAYER

We would like to kindly ask you for intensive prayer support for this "little conceived initiative." Especially we would like to ask you for the protection of all people in need in Ukraine which God wants to help through this initiative. We will also appreciate your prayers for your coordinators in Ukraine to be protected under the mantle of Our Holy Mother Mary from any evil, disease, or sin and to be able to listen to God's voice. Let our prayers help them to bring support to those who truly need it. Our coordinators in Ukraine are our friends, with whom we have cooperated in the past on various projects of the Theology of the Body in Ukraine. There are lay people, priests, bishops, families, and religious communities. We have formed a valuable partnership of friendship and charitable work through the teaching of St. Pope John Paul II. and through devotion to the Holy Mother Mary. The aim of our partnership is to act together in charity and ask for necessary graces from God on the intercession of the Holy Mother Mary and St. Pope John Paul II. for each other and for the whole world. THANK YOU.

MIKULÁŠSKO-VIANOČNÁ ZBIERKA 2021 For Poor in Ukraine

.
Help us continue to bring joy and assistance to people in need in Ukraine!

We would like to prepare for Christmas small gifts of food, fruits, and candies for all those to whom we have helped the whole year together with you! Unfortunately, during the pandemic, the number of big families, lonely individuals, single mothers, grandmas, grandpas, or priests in the need in Ukraine has rapidly increased. For that reason, we want to be helpful in this little way in order to reduce their pain and suffering.
