I CAN'T TAKE THE GROCERIES BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO PAY YOU!
Letter from our co-worker from Ukraine
"My name is Tanya and I would like to tell you one of the many stories in which I often see the Merciful God acting. There are many of these stories, but one of them really touched my heart.
It was spring, I was walking down the street. I had originally planned to go a completely different way, but suddenly I decided to go in the opposite direction. When we are open to God's voice and His working in our lives, the Lord God can always direct our steps and surprise us with something. On the way, I stopped at a store to buy water. Suddenly, I saw an old lady with incredibly beautiful and kind eyes, holding an empty basket in her hand, walking around the store. She was very poorly dressed, but looking well. I watched her for a long time and saw her browsing the shop windows. I thought to myself that she probably couldn't afford to buy much. Eventually, the old lady went into the shop, bought a small pastry, came out, sat down and ate it.
As I left the store, I felt the words in my heart: ‘Go back and buy her some food.’ So I went back to the store, bought some groceries, and brought them to her. She looked at me and said to me: "But I can't take that food from you because I don't have anything to pay you with. I don't have anything to repay you with." These words touched my heart deeply. The old woman wanted very much to give me something in return, but she had nothing. I told her that it was a gift for her, that she didn't need anything. Just that I ask her to pray for all the benefactors. ‘Thank you, child,’ the old woman replied gratefully.
